As part of our continued growth, we are looking to bring in a highly experienced Head of People Management, to join the People leadership team, and to head up our business partnering function. Role purpose 

The Head of People Management reports to the Chief People Officer and leads the People Management function, managing the team of People Managers who business partner with managers and heads of business units.  You will act as the senior escalation point for complex employee relations and people matters. 

You will work closely with the Head of People Operations (who leads operational delivery, HR systems and reward), as part of the People leadership team, ensuring effective collaboration across the People team as Saltus continues to grow.

Saltus is a privately owned financial planning and discretionary investment management house. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality service for private clients, trusts, and smaller institutions.  

Saltus Partners was founded in 2004 and has grown organically and through a small number of carefully integrated acquisitions. Originally the business started out as an investment manager and has now developed the financial planning side of the offering, putting this at the forefront of the client relationship.

Can you tell me more about the role? 

You’ll have a wide and varied range of responsibilities, as follows: 

  • Lead the People business partnering function, ensuring proactive, value-adding support to managers and business unit leaders. 
  • Provide leadership to the team of People Managers, setting clear direction, priorities and standards for high quality business partnering. 
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex employee relations (ER) cases, providing expert advice and guidance. 
  • Oversee the management of employee relations matters end-to-end, ensuring fair, consistent, commercial and legally sound outcomes. 
  • Support M&A activity by leading the people integration of acquired entities from completion through to the point of BAU. 
  • Partner with business unit leaders on organisational design, workforce planning and structural change. 
  • Lead succession planning, identifying and developing talent for business critical roles. 
  • Drive leadership development, building management and leadership capability across the business. 
  • Coach managers and leaders on team performance, development and difficult conversations. 
  • Own the implementation of the performance management framework, ensuring clear, fair and effective performance cycles. 
  • Champion a culture of continuous feedback, high performance and employee engagement. 
  • Support managers and their teams through periods of change, restructure and transformation. 
  • Use people insight and ER trends to identify risks and opportunities and recommend improvements. 
  • Work in close partnership with the Head of People Operations to ensure seamless end-to-end people delivery. 
  • Develop strong relationships with leaders across the business, including business unit and functional heads. 
  • Act as part of the People leadership team. 

What sort of person are we looking for? 

We think that the successful candidate will have: 

  • At least 10 years’ HR experience 
  • Significant experience working in a senior HR business partner role 
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, high growth organisation 
  • Ideally, experience of working within a regulated environment 
  • Excellent ER and employment legislation knowledge and understanding 
  • Experience of managing and developing other HR professionals 
  • Experience of M&A 
  • Superb communication skills, with a track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels 
  • A real passion for developing and maintaining strong organisational cultures 
  • Outstanding academic achievements 
  • Extremely strong IT skills 
  • CIPD membership (or equivalent) 

Where will I be working?  

We ask everyone at Saltus to ensure that they’re based from one of our office locations – likely Whiteley or London, for this role – for at least three days each week, working the remainder of the week from home.

The role is 40 hours per week to be worked between the hours of 8:30-5.30pm with a salary of up to £70,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a bonus.
