Joe Maguire

Joe has over 35 years’ experience as an independent financial adviser/planner. Throughout his career Joe has always aimed to make the often complex world of investment and financial planning easier for clients to understand and without the use of technical jargon. He is a keen advocate of cashflow modelling and the role it plays in helping clients navigate their financial journey, feeling it is important to “paint the picture” before focusing on the technical or plan details. Whilst mainly advising private clients, he has also advised Trust and Corporate clients over many years and has chaired the investment committee, with the responsibility of running a range of investment portfolios, for the last 14 years. In addition to advising, he has held senior management and regulatory responsibilities as managing partner of Beckford James, now part of Saltus, as well as previously being a board director at two large national IFAs.

Joe has witnessed the move from a product based industry to a highly qualified profession where clients can increasingly have confidence in the advice, especially of a chartered planner or firm. Fully supporting the regulatory drive to professionalism, Joe is a Chartered Fellow of both the PFS (Personal Finance Society) and the CISI (Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment), as well as an Affiliate of STEP (Society of Trustees & Estate Practitioners) and the PMI (Pensions Management Institute).

On a personal level, Joe is a keen rugby fan, following Bath in the premiership as well as being a level 2 qualified rugby coach and a qualified rugby referee. He can also be found with a guitar or a beer in hand.
